CMP Toolkit released

Collaborative management partnerships (CMP), a type of public-private partnership for the conservation sector, are increasingly being used globally to strengthen protected area management and to promote sustainable development. With the success of CMPs in demonstrating positive conservation, social, and economic outcomes, a comprehensive review of these CMPs and their role in conserving wildlife and catalyzing rural development is presented in the new Global Wildlife Program toolkit Collaborative Management Partnership Toolkit.

The Foundation for the Conservation of Biodiversity (BIOFUND) in collaboration with the Consortium of African Funds for the Environment (CAFÉ), is pleased to invite you to participate in the 11th CAFÉ General Assembly, a hybrid event (both live and virtual) that will take place from 06th to 08th October 2021.

The 11th CAFÉ General Assembly is an opportunity to exchange experiences on the role of environmental funds in promoting synergies to support biodiversity conservation in Africa. This conference will be held under the theme Experience Exchange as a Key Factor for the Success of Biodiversity Conservation: Promoting Conservation in Times of Crisis in Africa”.

The event will have simultaneous translation in Portuguese, English and French.

The synthesis of the workshop discussions have been made available for the workshop "The Financial Sector and the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework" held on 17 and 18 June 2021. The synthesis of the workshop is also being made available as an information document for the third meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (WG2020-3), which will take place from 23 August to 3 September 2021.

At its second meeting, the Executive Board of the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) approved funds to support the development of a blue economy regional programme in the Mesoamerican Reef, as well as for the development of a sustainable revenue stream initiative for Marine Protected Area management and enforcement in Indonesia.

Additionally, the Executive Board endorsed an Investment Plan, developed by the CFA, outlining a strategic vision that unites GFCR conservation and sustainable finance goals for coral reefs and reef-dependent communities.

To restore and regenerate ecosystems for the sake of future generations, we need to redesign our current economic model. This requires a long-term focus and a new perspective on value, called integrated value, including social and natural value besides financial.

For this purpose, Commonland has co-developed a method capable of calculating the integrated long-term value of large-scale landscape interventions: the 4 Returns landscape valuation method.
