Consultancy To Support The Development Of A Green Climate Fund Concept Note For The Operation Climate Resilience Program In The Caribbean Region
The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in collaboration with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (5 Cs) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) are working together to formulate a 8-year program “Operation Coastal Resilience (OCR): Innovative Financing for Nature-based Solutions that Support Climateresilient Caribbean Islands” for submission to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The overall objective of this program is to reduce the climate vulnerability and increase the resilience and sustainability of coastal populations and ecosystems across the Caribbean by scaling up nature-based solutions (NBS) to adaptation—particularly through innovative financing mechanisms that address long-term NBS costs. Countries that are being approached to participate in the OCR program in the Caribbean include Bahamas, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia.
The main objective of the consultancy is to formulate a GCF Concept Note with a sound climate adaptation rationale to justify the proposed adaptation interventions and innovative finance mechanisms to invest in nature-based solutions in the targeted countries. The consulting firm (or individual consultant) is required to lead the work of other experts (consultants) to consolidate all the relevant documentation to accompany and support the development of the Concept Note. The consultant will work with National Designated Authorities (NDA) of the proposed countries, UNDP (regional technical advisor and country office representatives), the 5Cs (regional advisors), TNC Caribbean based staff and a wide range of multisectoral partners (public and private) under an overall TNC coordination.
