Workshop on Environmental Tax Reform by IEEP

The IEEP would like to invite you to attend a workshop on environmental tax reform for biodiversity and sustainable land use, which will take place in Berlin on 25 April 2017. The agenda for this workshop can be found here.

The aim of these workshops is to exchange views and build capacity on the lessons learned on and future possibilities for environmental tax reform, with a view to unlock financing for biodiversity and sustainable land use.

Topics up for discussion at the workshop include: opportunities and barriers to the use of economic instruments, methods of engagement, windows of opportunity to engage, and designing instruments to improve their acceptability.

Please note that the IEEP has some funding available to cover the cost of travel and hotels for some workshop participants, so please let them know if this is a pre-requirement for your participation.

The workshop is by invitation only, so please register with Sandra Mootoosamy (smootoosamy@ieep.eu) if you are able to attend. Also, feel free to spread the word to other colleagues who may be interested.

Webinar by the ILCN

This coming Wednesday, March 22nd, the International Land Conservation Network (ILCN) will be hosting a webinar on what the Paris Climate Agreement means for land conservation organizations.

The Paris Climate Agreement marked a historic moment in our collective fight against climate change. Since that time, and, particularly, at the recent COP in Marrakesh, countries have been working to frame their climate change pledges.

Considering these developments, how can land conservation organizations help their countries to meet their climate goals? Will the Paris Agreement lead to new funding sources? How should an organization start thinking about integrating carbon accounting into their projects?

Join the ILCN and carbon finance experts on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11:00 am EST for a crash course on how land conservation organizations can engage in climate change adaption and mitigation within the framework of the Paris Climate Agreement.

For further information on who will be involved and what topics will be covered, please take a look at the invitation. If you know you would like to attend you may also register here.
